What is NDIS?

It has significantly changed the way disability funding works. The National Disability Insurance Scheme funds and delivers disability services in Australia. It brings direct access funds for individuals with a disability based on their individual needs.

What is the NDIA?

The agency responsible for the implementation of the NDIS is NDIA-National Disability Insurance Agency. The NDIA planner helps with the first NDIS planning budget.

What is the eligibility for the NDIS?

The age criterion for the NDIS is that you need to be under 65 years of age when the scheme commences and should also have a permanent and significant disability. One can visit the official website of NDIS for further information regarding the same.

What will be the level of support under the NDIS?

What is the NDIA planning meeting?

NIDA planning meeting involves the NDIA planner who helps you with creating your first NDIA plan. The discussion involves your support needs, lifestyle, and goals.

For this, you should undergo preliminary planning regarding your lifestyle, life goals and the support you may require before the meet. With this preparation, you will get a clear idea regarding what you need from the NDIS.

Can I take a support person or family member along for the planning meeting?

Yes, you can take along your family member, support person for the planning meeting for the support. You can also take your friend along whom you think can support you during the session. It will lead to better outcomes for the planning meeting.

Will my current supports continue if I transit to the NDIS?

All your current supports will continue, and nothing will happen to those supports. Those pre-existing supports will stop only once you have an approved NDIS plan.

What is the duration of the NDIS plan?

The NDIS plan runs for 12 months. However, as the plan approaches its end, i.e. six months before, NDIA contacts you for a review meeting next year.

Can I amend my NDIS plan?

Yes, it is possible to subject to certain conditions. If there is a significant change in your life and disability before the end of your NDIS plan, you can reach out to your NDIA planner and seek an early review.

What if I am not satisfied with my plan?

If you are not happy with your plan, you can request a review. For this, you can contact your planner or the NDIA and discuss the things that you are not happy about. You can opt for the internal review process with the NDIA for this purpose.
You must be careful with the review process and ensure that it has all the supports that successfully meet your requirements.
